What is Automobile Engine?

What is Automobile Engine?

H
i friends, i want to share some automobile field knowledge with all of you. actually automobile works on basic 3 subjects. like automobile engines, auto. transmission system and auto. electrical system.if you are a automobile engg. students you already know this subjects but i want to dedicate this post who are not related to this field because if they want to know about automobile field and join this field in future.now lets start to understand about automobile engines.

Automobile engines.

“Engine Is a Device Which Converts The Chemical Energy Into Mechanical Energy”. Basically there are two types of engines like petrol engine and diesel engine. But now a days we can see gas engines  also  in market. In automobile language we call it S.I engine and C.I engine. S.I means spark ignition engine we call it “Petrol engine” in common language. and C.I means compression ignition engine. We call it “Diesel engine” in common language. Now lets get detail description about petrol engine.
S.I engine   (petrol engine)
As per its name it works with petrol fuel only.now lets get detail description of petrol engine parts and its functions.
  1. Cylinder head
  2. Piston
  3. Piston ring
  4. Connecting rod
  5. Sir-clip lock
  6. Crank shaft
  7. Cam shaft
  8. Rocker arm
  9. spark plug
Now lets introduce various parts of engine.

Cylinder head:- cylinder head made in one side holo shape.its second side is packed from its side.  Its main fuction is to provide space to move piston and connecting rod. it is the main part of engine because head is giving space to other parts.
Piston:- piston generally made from cast iron and aluminum alloy material.it moves from T.D.C (top  dead center) to B.D.C (bottom dead center) in cylinder block.it gives moment to  crank shaft at 0 to 360 degree. And it provides engine moment. And it also gives strokes like suction, compression, power and exhaust. We will discuss about this 4 strokes in later.
Piston ring:- piston rings located on piston surface.generally 3 rings are used on piston.its main function is to scrap the oil from cylinder wall. It moves with piston only because it located on piston surface….it is made in round shape…
Sir clip lock:- its main function is to lock  piston from inner side because piston made in holo shape.
Crank shaft:-crank shaft is a main part of  engine. it moves in rotary motion till 0 to  360 degree and gives a chance to move the piston through connecting rod. generally it is made from aluminum material.
Cam shaft:- cam shaft is connected with rocker arm and it helps to open valve of cylinder.generally cam shaft length keeps 0.5 meter…
Connecting rod:- connecting rod made from aluminum alloy material.it has two ends.small end and big end.its small end is connected with piston and its big end is connected with crank shaft.its main function is to connect piston and crank shaft to supply motion.it converts resiproket moment in to rotery moment.
Rocker arm:-its main function is to open and close the inlet and exhaust (outlet)  valve.it is a single kind of thin rod.
Spark plug:- spark plug is also a important part of engine because it gives the spark to fuel burnt and due to spark we can get other strokes and vehicle get start by it. On spark plug gap is provided and this gap is kept 5 to 6 mm.
Now we are knowledgeable about petrol engine parts.and same parts are used in diesel engine and its functions are also same but in diesel engine we use  fuel injector instead of spark plug which inject the fuel (diesel) from inlet manifold.now lets try to understand this engine by pictures.

in next article we will learn about 2- stroke and 4- stroke engine.
